The issue that we complain about and seek solutions the most during the summer months is protection from flies and insects. Products developed for this purpose, containing toxic chemicals, have very harmful side effects. For this reason, we will look for a solution with herbal fragrant oils about what natural solutions can be.
The best repellent-deterrent essential oils for flies and insects in the home, office and holiday areas are:
The most effective of these oils against flies and insects in summer are lemon oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil and lemongrass (citronella) oil.
Due to some natural chemicals they contain, they have toxic effects especially on volatile insects. Remember that essential oils, i.e. sharp-smelling oils, should not be contacted directly on the skin because they have irritating effects on the skin. For this reason, essential oils must be used in a fixed oil (the best is hazelnut oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, calendula oil, avocado oil or olive oil by dropping a few drops into it).
It can be 10 ml or 20 ml in a small spray bottle. After adding one of the 6 fixed oils I have mentioned above, we add at most 4-5 drops of one of the three essential oils (lemon-lavender-mint) and close the bottle and shake it. You can spray this mixture on every exposed part of our skin (except the eyes). No insects or flies will even come near you anymore.
In order to prevent flies from coming to balconies and rooms: 10 drops of lemon oil + 10 drops of lavender oil + 5 drops of peppermint oil + 5 drops of clove oil + 50 ml of pure water can be put into a spray bottle, shaken and sprayed into rooms or balconies to prevent flies.
If you put 8-10 drops of rosemary and thyme oil on your cleaning cloth to keep the under-counter and upper cabinets away from cockroaches and some insects, they will not visit your kitchen for a long time. At the same time, this dual mixture is a great disinfectant for your counters.
It is sufficient to have cloths impregnated with lavender oil and wrapped with nylon to keep moths and bed bugs away from under the beds, in wardrobes and between books in libraries.
